Faculty of Architecture-UPTU, Lucknow, located on a 6-acre site, is at a walking distance from the city center of Hazratganj. It started as a part of Government College of Arts & Crafts in 1911 and is one of the oldest in the country. The Institution separated from Government College of Arts and Crafts in 1976, with its new name 'Govt. School of Architecture' which was, later, renamed in 1980 as 'Govt. College of Architecture, Lucknow' (Popularly called GCA, Lucknow) as it acquired the status of the constituent college of Lucknow University. Till the academic session of 1999-2000 the College, constituting the 'Faculty of Architecture' of Lucknow University, conducted a 5-year degree course leading to the award of a Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B. Arch). With the academic session 2000-2001, as per the decision of the government applied to all other technical institutions of the State, it got affiliated to the newly established 'U.P. Technical University, Lucknow' for all academic matters. The administrative Control and the financial grants of the college remained with the Technical Education Department of the UP Government. For a brief period of about two years, the college functioned as an autonomous college with name 'Lucknow College of Architecture'
Eligibility Criteria:Candidate clearly passed with 50% aggregate marks without grace in 10 + 2 or its equivalent examination from any recognized Board / University with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.OR 3 years Diploma in Architecture stream with minimum 50% marks recognized by Central / State Govt., is eligible for Admission to first year of B. Arch.Passing Higher Secondary or equivalent is a must.Minimum of 40% in the qualifying exam.English should be one of the subjects.

Residents are required to cooperate with the Wardens and the Proctor for the smooth functioning of the Hostel. Students must respect their authority in the execution of operational details -room allocation, fixing of schedules of payment of mess dues, assessment of loss or damage of property, assignment of duties to Hostel Staff etc. They must also abide by the ‘Charter of conduct & discipline’ applicable for studentship at Faculty of Architecture, UPTU. The students must adhere to the Rules and Regulations specifically laid down regarding conduct in the Hostel. For infraction of discipline, Warden is the immediate concerned authority.

The reference section contains books on all the subjects as required by the course and demanded by general awareness. As sports and general activities are an essential part of any educational institution, we have sufficient playground and sports inventory for the overall development of students. We have indoor games and outdoor games facilities for the students. Indoor games include Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis etc and outdoor games include Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton, Hockey, Cricket and Lawn Tennis. We have separate coaches for different games.
